TOTALLY LOST in Romania

The cultural association Spazi Indecisi and the European project Atrium present TOTALLY LOST, a European contest for professional and amateur photographers and video makers.

The purpose of the contest is to discover, survey and photograph the architectural heritage of European totalitarian regimes, specifically architectures that lay now in abandoned state: production sites, municipal buildings, private buildings, political or propaganda places, etc.

East Centric Architecture Triennale 2013, with the T r a n s ( a p ) p a r e n c i e s theme, is an event dedicated to East and Central European Architecture and critique. The central components of the Triennale are T r a n s ( a p ) p a r e n c i e s (critical demarche), the essay contest (critical discourse) and East Centric Arhitext Awards (practic architectural demarche and discourse). The Triennale is the place to meet, debate and reflect for the practitioners, critics, students and the large public. It is the place where alternative and interdisciplinary architectural practice is explored, where everyone can participate and build that sustainable, common and coherent future that the Triennale envisages.

CBT Mark 1: Cardboard bike

Izhar Gafni, an Israeli expert in the design of automated mass production lines discovered after years of research an opportunity to increase the structural performance of corrugated banal cardboard (usually used only in packaging) to make bicycles.

The Mission

The mission – is a project initiated by Eurodite and part of the DISC (Dutch Initiative for Sustainable Cities – www.disc-network.eu) activities. Together with Emil Boc, the Mayor of Cluj, Vice Mayors in Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta, Timisoara and Head Architects of Cluj and Bucharest, a representative of the port of Constanta, as well as other professionals in the connected ministry, we have been in an intense and dense visit to Rotterdam, Eindhoven and Utrecht. The top Romanian delegation met Vice Mayors and members of other ministries, their peers, and learned about projects already carried out and a way to manage. The mission worked out in these three days the targets of DISC platform, made to provide Dutch support to Romanian cities and their effort to build up initiatives meant to revive urban regions and areas ignored so far.

Izmo Winter School 2013
