Chamber Music for Wooden Churches

Over the following six months the Pro Patrimonio Foundation, SoNoRo and the Order of Romanian Architects are organizing a series of benefit concerts in order to safeguard the collapsing wooden churches from Northern Oltenia and Southern Transylvania.

We are delighted to invite you to the first concert of the series, which will be performed on January 28th starting 19h30 at the Military Circle in Bucharest by three international SoNoRo artists:

  • The violinist Erik Schumann, born in Köln, winner of the Leonard Bernstein award, soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and playing a 1713 Stradivarius;
  • The violist Razvan Popovici, founder and director of the SoNoRo festival, playing together with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and performing in prominent venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as on the famous MTV Unplugged show;
  • The Belgian cellist David Cohen, graduate of the Yehudi Menuhin School and winner of over 25 international prizes, who was the youngest soloist of the Philharmonia Orchestra London and plays the legendary Domenicus Montagnana Cello of 1715.
During the intermission a cocktail will be served. The proceedings collected from the event will be utilized for the emergency interventions necessary to save the wooden churches from disappearance.

We look forward to your attendance and charitable support.

Yours sincerely,
Arch. Serban Sturdza
