contemporary glas design exhibition
1-14 November / UNAgaleria
Michal Fronek together with Jan Nemecek forms the head of the Design studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design Prague. They decided to engage students from the studio in their activities of glass production. Five of their students took the opportunity to work for three weeks at the beautiful Moravian-Slovakian border, where the glass workshop Kvetna produces superior handmade glassware that is traditionally known for its exclusive quality.
Objectives of the student work were defined as “reincarnation” of glass shapes designed by various artists in the past and creation of their own experimental designs of applied art. They were obliged to point out the high-spirited aspect of universal ability that the masters of glass in Kvetna have – they are able to manage nowadays what they managed tens of years ago.
Both sides – students and manufacturers – connected original ideas and high craftsmanship increasing this way the value of the glass factory production. You can see the results in the exhibition in Galeria UNA.
