November 4 – 12, 2016 -Bucharest, Romania
The third edition of the Bucharest Art Week (BAW) International Festival examines the way in which contemporary artists, curators and theorists place themselves with respect to the theme of nature and the tradition of the landscape.
In formulating this visual research project, Oana Tanase, the curator invited to propose the concept and the structure of BAW 2016, has pre-served the interest for the artistic processes which focus on, intensify and cultivate the central theme of the event, nature.
With the title The Lesson of Nature, both the curatorial project and the in-sert-catalog of the exhibitions (which will be launched during BAW) favor contemporary artistic practices and discourses, whose tonality starts from the poetic and the abstract, to reach the investigative and the documentary.
“The intentions of this curatorial proposal, which will define the third edition of Bucharest Art Week 2016, resuming a kaleidoscope format – solo and collective exhibitions, discussions and lectures, workshops and artists’ residences – are to explore, in a dialogue with the artists, theorists and the audience, the way in which a series of extremely diverse artistic practices, together with observations and philosophical inquiries, start from and/or stop at nature, how they strip it, question it, imagine it in keeping with new scenarios.” – Oana Tănase
