Boundary cities, cities of the future, situationist urbanism, communities and post-utopias. The German architect Wilfried Hackenbroich will tell us how the urbanism can be cool and creative and also about new instruments and concepts and case studies elaborated within the Bauhaus college.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The lecture “Situationist Urbanism” presents concepts, strategic research and interventions that define an alternative perspective on the contemporary city. What are the limits and alternatives to the conventional urbanism plans, how can uncontrolled developments turn into potentials and how can one think the city’s transformation from a community point of view?<\/span><\/p>\n

More examples from the projects of the Bauhaus Advanced Studies College illustrate the work instruments and an multidisciplinary understanding of urbanism. “Bordercities” is a project of research and theoretical construction based on cross-border developments from, among others, Copenhagen and Malmo or Helsinki and Tallinn. “Cities of Tomorrow” critically reviews the problems and current potential of modernist urbanism based on contemporary evolutions of new cities in Scotland and Singapore.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wilfried Hackenbroich worked in some famous architecture offices, such as OMA (Rotterdam) or Morphosis (Los Angeles). His activity during the last years has an deliberately multidisciplinary character, from research applied to the project in the works of the Hackenbroich Architekten office to a considerable number of contests, to teaching in advanced studies schools (such as Bauhaus Dessau) or the research projects and the publications in the field of urbanism. <\/span><\/p>\n
